A Militant Muslim’s Encounter with Love

By the time Saudi-born Al Fadi turned 12, he had memorized half the Quran. By age 15, he was ready to die for Allah as a terrorist, had his mother not held him back. He hated Christians and anyone else who did not believe in Islam as the one true religion. The more he read the Quran, the more he saw the hatred running through its pages, and the more that began to trouble him. Why would Allah hate those He had created?

Then God brought several Christians into his life who demonstrated love, peace and joy such as he had never seen before. He began studying Christianity to find out what had made a difference in their lives. Contrary to all he had been taught growing up, he walked into a church. As he studied through the book of John together with those Christians, he finally learned who Jesus truly is and chose Him as his Savior.

“I am no longer the man I used to be,” Al Fadi said. Truth has set him free. Now, he, too, spreads God’s love to Muslims, and teaches other Christians how to do the same. (Read Al Fadi’s full testimony in Christianity Today’s January 3, 2023 article.)

Saudi Arabia is #13 on Open Doors’ World Watch List of most dangerous countries for Christians. All Saudi citizens are required to be Muslim and leaving Islam is punishable by death.

Lord, we praise You for the way You guided Al Fadi into Your arms. So many other Saudis have seen the hatred in Islam. Please run a river of hunger for Truth through that land and awaken all of Saudi Arabia to Your love. Give both seekers and extremists visions and dreams from Your heart to show them who Jesus truly is. Grant them courage to lay down Islam, no matter the cost, and choose Christ. For You created them to know You, to love You, to experience Your great love for them and to love others through Your love. Bring an end to the prejudice and fighting, to Muslims killing Muslims and Muslims killing Christians and Jews. Destroy the terrorist mentality with Your never-ending love. Make a way for every Saudi Arabian to hear Your good news presented in a way they can easily understand. Open their ears to hear Your voice and their eyes to see You as You truly are. Open their minds to comprehend Your love and grace, and their hearts to receive You as Savior. So many believers have had to worship You in silence and isolation, Lord. Please make a way for them to safely connect with other Christians. Protect them from harm and persecution. Hide underground churches from those who seek to do them evil, but expose them to those who long to know the Truth and draw those people into Your love. For every Christian persecuted, bring 1,000 Muslim souls to You. For every church that is raided, plant 1,000 more. Open wide the doors for every person in all of Saudi Arabia to know Jesus and worship You alone as King. We ask for Your special protection over Al Fadi, Lord. Please guard his life and use him in mighty ways to bring many others into Your Kingdom. In Your name. Amen.
