Terrorists set a secondary school on fire and murdered about 47 people, most of them between the ages of 13 and 18, on Friday night in Uganda. The attackers abducted at least six others and escaped across the border into Congo.
Uganda is 82% Christian and borders the volatile eastern region of Democratic Republic of the Congo, where Muslim terrorists have attacked Ugandan villages, especially innocent children, for three decades. The DRC is nearly 92% Christian.
Lord, please have mercy on the children. Protect them from harm and bring an end to the violence. Comfort those who mourn. Heal those who are injured. Rescue those who have been abducted. Get them to safety soon, and don’t let any evil come to them. Surround believers and their families both in Congo and in Uganda with Your angel armies and hide them from those who seek to do them harm. Sustain them and speak tenderly to them. Strengthen their faith, and give them courage and grace to forgive. Anoint them to preach the Gospel to their persecutors. May they shine Your Light so brightly darkness flees and those once bound to it will choose Christ. Please pursue every Muslim with Your love. Visit them in their dreams. Speak to them throughout the day. Convict them of the evil they have done and draw them to repentance and salvation. Bring Christians to them who will love them and show them the way to You. Replace a spirit of death and violence with LIFE abundant. And open the way for all the unreached peoples of Congo and Uganda to hear the Good News about Christ and be saved. Give them a hunger to know You so strong they will not give up until they find You. In Jesus‘ name. Amen.
