When was the last time God spoke to you? Do you remember? Is there anything He’s asked you to do. you haven’t done yet? What will it take to be still and listen?
God is speaking all the time. He’s even speaking right this moment. He’s so creative and personal that what, when, where, and how He speaks to you may be quite different from my own experience. And He speaks to each of us in so many different ways that we have to constantly be on alert, so we don’t miss a single word!
Just a few of the ways the Bible mentions God speaks:
- Through the Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- Through circumstances (2 Corinthians 12:7-10; Psalm 40:1-3),
- Through others (1 Corinthians 2:4-13),
- ThroughHis still small voice in your mind and heart (Psalm 42:8),
- Through dreams and visions (Acts 2:17),
- Through impressions or urgings (Acts 15:28),
- Through a sense of peace (Philippians 4:7),
- Through nature (Psalm 125; 19:1-4),
- Through signs and wonders (Acts 2:17-21),
Lord, open up our ears to hear You. We’ve forgotten to seek You in ALL our ways so You will direct our paths. Proverbs 3:5-6. Instead, like, sheep, we’ve gone our own way. Gentle Shepherd, draw us back. We need You now more than ever. Remind us that only in Your care are we safe from the enemy. Only when You watch over us does the thief steal in vain. Remind us of who we are in You. Teach us to listen to Your voice and follow Your lead. Transform us by Your kindness, until we show the world Who You are by walking so close to You they forget about us and see only You. There are yet other sheep You are calling to join You, Lord. John 10. Let them hear Your voice and follow, just as Peter did. Follow You fully, with all our hearts. Forever.
