Have you ever reached out to someone, wanting a deeper connection, but they didn’t take you up on that invitation? As you shared your heart, did they look at their watch? Check their social media notifications? Talk over you? Walk out of the room?
It’s not uncommon. But what the Lord was asking me to share today is how we do that to Him. He is here with us right now, inviting us into deep connection, but we push Him aside. We think, “I’ll get to that later,” “I’m too busy for a quiet time,” or, “Why even try talking to God? He never answers me.”
What has He been trying to tell you, but you haven’t stopped yet to listen? What is He calling you to do that you keep putting off? How many powerful, life-changing moments have you missed in His presence because your mind was busy with whatever temporary situation seemed more important?
How many things has He wanted to do together with you that could have turned that situation totally around, but you were too busy doing it your own way to experience the miracle?
Love Himself is calling us into true oneness, to glorious connection beyond anything an earthly situation or person can supply. What has been keeping you from His touch? Ask Him.
Father, You know my thoughts. Show me what keeps me from deeper depths with You. How have I been brushing You aside? What distracts me when You are speaking or makes me not want to listen? What am I afraid You’ll ask me to do? Please help me see the barriers and hate them enough to let you blast those walls down, so I can at last step out fully into oneness with You. Meet me today in the midst of my anxious thoughts, in the midst of my busyness and unbelief. Call me away with You into moments packed with Your glory, face-to-face connection with You that transforms my thoughts and changes my heart, and even my circumstances. Only You can give me the power to overcome what I’m facing right now, to walk through this trial with grace and love. Only You can give me the peace and joy I crave. Release me from my prisons. Set me free to follow You with all my heart and live in the light of Your presence every moment, guided by Your Spirit and empowered with Your love to love the world around me into Your arms.
