Children Suffering Amidst Fighting in Sudan

Since war broke out on April 15, more than 850 people have died in Sudan, including nearly 200 children. An estimated 1.6 million people have fled their homes; others remain trapped without any way to get food, water and other supplies. At least 60 children have died from fever and lack of food in one orphanage surrounded by fighting in Khartoum, 26 of those within two days this past weekend. An estimated nearly 14 million children are now in urgent need of humanitarian aid in Sudan.

More than 91% Muslim, Sudan ranks in the top ten most dangerous countries for Christians. Converts from Islam face violence, sexual assault and imprisonment. Nearly 82% of the North African nation’s population is considered unreached with the Gospel.

Lord, please save the children. Make a way for families and orphanages to get the supplies they need. Make a way of escape for those who are trapped. March in Your angel armies, strike down Satan’s forces, and free the people of Sudan to seek You and find You. Open the way for loving Christians to help those in need and share Christ with the lost in a way they can easily understand. Give each Sudanese heart a deep hunger to know You. O God, some Muslims have been turning to Christ in this region because they see the violence and hatred of those who serve Islam. May every Muslim in Sudan and beyond seek Truth with all their hearts and find You, Jesus. Guide seekers to Christians and churches who will share the Gospel with them in a way they can easily understand and with a clear demonstration of Your love. Perform signs and miracles and wonders to turn all eyes to You, Lord. When those bent on evil lift a hand or a weapon against Your children, let them see Your angels guarding them, tremble in fear, and fall to their knees in repentance. Father God, please bring about stability in this region. Put firmly in place a government that respects equality and religious freedom. Heal every Christian and others who have been affected by violence and persecution. Strengthen and multiply Your church. Give every believer a deep knowledge of Your Word, with courage and Your empowering to share it with those around them. Anoint evangelists and preachers, young people and teachers, Christians from all walks of life to share Your Good News far and wide. Bring about a great church planting movement in this region that spreads all throughout Africa and beyond. Meet the lost in their dreams to show them who You are. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You. Awaken all of Sudan to the God who is Love.
