A Prayer for Mothers

Feel free to write a prayer of blessing for your mother or spiritual mother in the comments.

Father God, please wrap Your arms around mothers throughout the world today and let them feel Your love. For mothers who don’t know You yet as Savior, please draw them to You in powerful ways. Urge them to take their families to church and guide them to just the place where they will feel a warm welcome. Touch the whole family through the teaching and make Your plan of salvation clear. Increase every mother’s hunger for You so they will do what it takes to surrender to You and live under Your protection, raising their children up to do the same. Bless their marriages. Wherever there is brokenness, please mend those breaches, Lord, and heal them. As they go through hard times, tell them You are there with them, and when they cry out to You answer them. Lift up those who are weary and give them new strength. Fill their homes with Your peace and with songs of rejoicing. Speak to them throughout the day. Guide them in each situation. Meet them in the watches of the night when their children wake. Sing both mothers and children back to sleep in Your arms. Set mothers free from anxiety and worry, and fill them with deep faith and peace. Replace every lie with truth and break off every stronghold. Empower them to lead their children to freedom, as well. Give them wisdom in every situation to see what they need to see and advocate for each child’s heart. Lift them up into Your arms and carry them. Fill the holes in mothers’ hearts left empty and bleeding through the pain of rejection or abuse. For those who are overwhelmed with guilt and regret, give them courage to forgive. For those in difficult marriages, give them grace and wisdom. For single mothers, please step into their homes and be Husband, Father, Friend, Guide, Protector…. Let them feel You near, Lord. Teach them to rest in Your arms, knowing You are still in control, even when things feel out of control. And provide for all their needs like only You can. In Your name. Amen.
