Christians on the Run in India’s Manipur

At least 58 people have died and more than 23,000 have fled their homes in the northeastern state of Manipur, India, next to the border with Myanmar, due to ethnic clashes between the Hindu Meitei and the Christian Naga and Kuki (Myanmar’s Chin) people groups. Global Christian Relief reported at least 25 churches and many Christians’ homes have burned to the ground at the hands of Hindu radicals since the violence began a week ago. Thousands of Christians forced from their land are now fleeing for their lives through the wilderness seeking safety.

Lord, please have mercy. Provide for these Christians’ needs and lead them to a place of safety and rest. Surround them with Your angel armies and hide them from those who seek to do them harm. Sustain them and speak tenderly to them. Strengthen their faith, and give them courage and grace to forgive. Build them up in You, and restore to them all that has been taken. Provide for them so abundantly they will also abundantly help others in need. Comfort those who mourn. We speak LIFE over them now in the name of Jesus. Fill them with hope, peace, faith and Your favor, covering and anointing to preach the Gospel to those who are lost and dying. May they shine the Light so brightly darkness flees and those once bound to it are set free to know Christ. Father God, please pursue these persecutors with Your love. Visit them in their dreams. Speak to them throughout the day. Urge them to lay down their many Hindu gods and choose You alone as their One True God through Jesus’ precious sacrifice for their sins. Convict them, Lord, of the evil they have done and draw them to repentance and salvation. Bring Christians to them who will love them and show them the way to You. Stop the violence, please, Lord. Replace a spirit of death with LIFE abundant. And open the way for the Meitei and all unreached peoples in India to hear the Good News about Christ and be saved. Give them a hunger to know You so strong they will not give up until they find You. Then step in and transform them through the power of Your unending love. In Your name. Amen.
