One day, as I worshipped the Lord together with others, He opened before me a vivid picture of what my life would be like now had I not chosen Christ: a struggling journalist, always trying hard but never quite good enough to make it anywhere, married to an unfaithful man who didn’t love me, too scared of being alone to leave him, hurting, feeling trapped, hopeless, afraid, empty, worthless, my life meaningless…. The vision was so powerful, it overtook me for those moments. I could actually feel what that other me felt — heart still beating, yet dead inside.
Each day, 157,690 people enter eternity without the hope of Jesus. As you take a breath this very second, two more have died without Christ. And now, two more. Forever lost. In darkness. Six more now.
It’s a sobering thought. Nearly 6 billion people in this world still do not know Christ. How can you make a difference, just one little light in the midst of so much darkness? And yet, every person you pray for or share God’s love with matters.
Brothers and sisters, we cannot hoard our treasure. There are people in your family, on your street, in your workplace, and all across the world who need Jesus.
Where would you be today if not for Christ? Close your eyes and ask the Lord. Spend a moment in that place with Him, realizing what a difference He’s made in every area of your life. Think of how you first heard about Jesus. Now, ask Him how He wants to use you to make that happen for someone else.
Tomorrow, March 23, we begin our 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening. Is God asking you to join us? Plan now how you will set aside that time each day to pray for the lost in your circles and for every every heart in every nation to awaken to Christ’s love. What will be your part in their story? Ask the Lord how He wants to use you to bring His light to their darkness.

Lord, we cry out to You for the billions throughout the earth, for those in our nation, our city, our neighborhood, and our own family who do not yet know You. Give them a hunger for You so fierce they will forsake everything else to seek You with all their hearts and find You. Jeremiah 29:13. Visit them in their dreams. Get up in their face. Invade their space. Bring across their path so many obvious, lavish displays of Your love, grace and healing that they can no longer deny You alone are God and You alone are Good. Give them courage to lay down all their excuses and finally step over that line they have been so afraid of before to choose You now as Savior. Whatever lies the enemy has bound them with, Father, set them free. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are and surrender to Your truth. Whatever they’ve been standing on that’s not You, whatever arguments they have raised against the knowledge of You, tear them all down and draw them up into Your loving arms in an embrace so tight, so meaningful, so life-transforming they will make Your grace their place of rest and never leave You. May they know the Love that sets them free, so overwhelmed by the peace, joy and miracles You have brought into their lives that they share what You have done with everyone they know, bringing many more into Your kingdom. Plant new churches even this year, Lord, in every neighborhood of every city in every nation all throughout the world. Give us courage to share with the lost. Show us those You have placed in our sphere of influence that You want us to share with, and open up the way for others to come into our lives who need You as well. Empower us with Your words and love to share with them in such a way that they will understand who You are and what You came to do, so the scales will fall from their eyes and they will see clearly their need for a Savior. Plant Your truth so deep in their hearts, it will take root and grow unto salvation, bringing forth a great harvest, not only in the lives of those around them, but all throughout the world. May the whole earth be filled with Your glory.
