Pray They Will Hear

In just a few days, we begin our 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening here at the Prayer Wall, a special time for Christians all over the world to pray together for every heart in every nation to awaken to God’s love.

Did you know that 3.37 billion people still have never heard the Good News about Christ? Barriers like geographic isolation, languages, religious persecution and oppressive governments have denied them access to the Bible or a Christian witness.

About 3,505 (86.5 %) of those 7,425 unreached people groups are Muslim. For this reason, our dates actually coincide with Islamic Ramadan, when close to two billion Muslims throughout the world will fast and seek God for 30 days. Let’s pray they find Him! 

• Would you consider a Parallel Fast? During Ramadan, Muslims typically rise to eat breakfast before dawn and do not eat again until a special family meal after sunset. They abstain from selfish pleasures, give to the poor and help those in need. As “holy” as that sounds, so much of the violence, terror and persecution of Christians worldwide is linked to Islamic extremism. For most Muslims, merely inquiring about Jesus can mean beatings, imprisonment or death. Because they are so cut off from the Gospel, Christ often reveals Himself to them in miraculous encounters, dreams and visions, especially during Ramadan, the very month they have set aside to fast and seek a powerful encounter with God. As we pray for Muslims to know God’s love, why not lovingly engage in a fast that parallels theirs?
• Consider involving your whole family these 30 days through Dinner and a Prayer. Invite your children or other family members to do research on the countries and people groups in the regions you pray for each day. Look for fun recipes online to cook for dinner from those countries. (We provide menu suggestions at the bottom of our 30 Days page.) As you gather together for that evening meal, invite your children to share their research. Talk together about barriers to the Gospel or other issues, and then have a time of worship and prayer together. If you like, use a globe or map to lay hands on the region as you pray.

Lord, nearly 1/3 of the world’s population has yet to hear Your Good News. Make a way for the Gospel to reach every heart in every corner of the earth and the Bible to be translated into every language. Call out believers with a heart for unreached peoples who will pray for them and penetrate their darkness with Your light. Give the lost such a hunger for You they will seek You with all their heart and find You. Jeremiah 29:13. Lead them to believers and churches who will share the Gospel with them and love them into Your arms. Give them access to the internet and radio, and connect them with churches, local believers and Your truth that way, as well. Open their hearts wide, so as soon as they hear of You, they will know You are the One they’ve been looking for. When they call upon You, hear them, O God, and answer them. Perform signs and miracles and wonders to display Your love and power, so they will lay down their idols and worship You alone. Meet them in their dreams. Speak to them throughout the day. Point them in directions that lead them to You. Awaken them to Your love and salvation. Give them courage to surrender to You, even under the threat of persecution and death, and transform their hearts so powerfully others around them will take notice and also believe. Bring whole families and villages and people groups to faith in You, Lord. Don’t leave any corner of this planet untouched. Plant thriving, multiplying churches in every area of this earth, until all peoples have had the chance to know You.
