As junior high and high school students gather to worship, study the Word and grow together in the Lord at various churches throughout the US for special discipleship weekends over the next couple of months, let’s pray for an outpouring of God’s love in every gathering, for the lost to be saved, and for Christian youth to catch fire for the Lord.
Lord, please catch our youth on fire for You. As they worship You, as they dig into Your Word, and as they meet together with other youth, please touch them in powerful ways. Give the leaders wisdom and empower them as they teach. Flow through the worship teams as they lead. And make each of these gatherings across the nation a powerful encounter with You for each young person. Call out some to be missionaries, others to be pastors and leaders, others to become influencers in the areas of study You will call them to follow. We ask You, Lord, to raise up a generation holy and set apart unto You. Move them to lay down the idols their peers want them to worship, to stand strong in their identity in You when others tell them they should be something else. Ground them in Your Word so they will have the answer to speak in the face of opposition. And grow them deep in their love for You and for others. May this generation be a generation known for its love, forgiveness and truth. Knock down every lie, O Lord, and give Christian young people the truth they can stand on. Break every chain. Set them free from strongholds, wrong thought processes, addictions, and whatever the enemy has already tried to place in their path to lead them astray. Turn every heart full-swing around to dive into Your grace, gaze upon Your beauty, soak in Your embrace, and flow forth in Your love. Give them courage to forgive those who have wronged them, to stand up and be the men and women of God You created them to be, to not give an excuse for former sin, but to turn their back on it now and live only for You. Prepare even now the godly husbands and wives You have for each of our youth. Purify their hearts and minds, cleanse them from whatever they have seen or done that they should not, and set up for them the pure, faithful, loving Christian marriages and families that will raise up the next generation of God-lovers and leaders for Your glory. Yes, Lord, set our youth apart for You. Whatever mistakes we have made as parents, grow them past us and bring forth a chosen generation for such a time as this who will stand firm in Your Word, walk out in truth and love, and draw the nations to You. In Your name. Amen.
