Have you been longing for revival? To see the Lord show up in power in your ministry? Your family? Your church? Your marriage? Your own heart? Like it has in Kentucky?
We have been praying here at the Prayer Wall for awakening in our churches and among our youth. And it’s happening! Praise God! For the past two weeks, students at Asbury University have been worshipping the Lord around the clock in a powerful outpouring of His felt presence no one seems to have the words to explain. Busloads of people have gone to the tiny town of Wilmore, Kentucky, to “catch” the Spirit’s flow and take it home with them. Were you wanting that too? The doors are now closed to outsiders; crowd flow was just too much.
But Jesus’ door is always open. Do you want revival? Today, step into the Secret Place with Almighty God, and ask Him to begin that revival … in you.
Lord, we pray for a great awakening on every campus all throughout this country, in our churches, in our homes, in our marriages, and all throughout the world. But most of all, we ask You to awaken our own hearts. Tear down every barrier that stands in the way of us feeling Your touch, hearing Your voice, experiencing Your love in powerful ways, and flowing in that love to also love others through the outpouring of Your Spirit in us. We admit, Lord, that we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. That we often turn away from You to follow our own ways. Put an end to that in our hearts. Burn like a fire within us, bringing our selfish desires to ashes and growing in their place a garden of faith, hope and love. Fix our eyes on You until we lay everything down that’s not truth, step out of the lies, and step into You. Teach us to worship You in Spirit and in truth, to walk out in the fullness of the Word we claim to believe. There are so many promises we have yet to experience the fulfillment of in our own hearts and lives, Lord. Step in and turn us in Your directions. Open doors that need to be opened. Shut what needs to be shut. Tear down every barrier that has stood in the way of us walking in the MORE we were created for in You. Overcome our passions with Yours. Overwhelm our hearts with what moves Yours. Open our eyes to see through Your viewpoint, and lift us up out of the pits we’ve buried our hopes and dreams in. For YOU are the One we desire, Jesus. Only You have the answers we’re searching for. Only You have the fire we want lit within our family and churches. Only You are the One this life is for. Reveal Yourself today like never before. And prepare my heart for that encounter with You. Don’t let me “busy” myself out of it, thinking other things are more important than spending time with You, than letting You show me my sin so I can repent, than letting You tear down my strongholds and set me free. For it is in freedom that I will be able to step out in Your Spirit’s lead and lead others into freedom and wholeness. Anxiety gone in Your felt presence. Weariness gone as I rest in You. Loneliness gone as You speak to me. Depression gone in worship … of You. Fix my eyes on what matters, knees to the earth, face planted in Your feet, … humbly, … completely surrendered to You.
