Four Christians Killed, Four Injured in Sudan

A Sudanese-American pastor and three other Christians were gunned down Monday by terrorists in Kadugli, southern Sudan. Four others were also injured in the attack. (Read the full story at MorningStarNews.org.)

Although the country had made some strides toward religious freedom, ever since the coup in 2021, Islamic extremism and terrorism, especially against Christians, has continued to increase. Sudan now ranks tenth on the list of most dangerous countries for those who believe in Jesus.

Lord, please comfort the families of these servants who died as martyrs for their faith. Surround them with Your love and speak tenderly to them. Heal the four who are injured: Imtiyas Marhy Jabdool, 29; Fadul Musa Al Haraba, 23; Zakaria Butros Al Haraba, 34; and Mujahid Hassan, 19. Please, God, give every Christian in this area the grace to forgive, and make that forgiveness so clear that their persecutors will see and be humbled to repentance. O God, so many Muslims have been turning to Christ in this region because they see the violence and hatred of those who serve Islam. May every Muslim in Sudan and beyond seek Truth with all their hearts and find You, Jesus. Guide seekers to Christians and churches who will share the Gospel with them in a way they can easily understand and with a clear demonstration of Your love. Perform signs and miracles and wonders to turn all eyes to You, Lord. When those bent on evil lift a hand or a weapon against Your children, let them see Your angels guarding them, tremble in fear, and fall to their knees in repentance. Father God, please bring about stability in this region. Put firmly in place a government that respects equality and religious freedom. Heal every Christian and others who have been affected by violence and persecution. Strengthen and multiply Your church. Give every Christian a deep knowledge of Your Word, with courage and Your empowering to share it with those around them. Anoint evangelists and preachers, young people and teachers, Christians from all walks of life to share Your Good News far and wide. Bring about a great church planting movement in this region that spreads all throughout Africa and beyond. Meet the lost in their dreams to show them who You are. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You. Awaken all of Sudan to the God who is Love.
