Here at the Prayer Wall, we have been asking the Lord for the quick release of a pilot with Mission Aviation Fellowship, Ryan Koher, and two South Africans who helped with his ministry. The three are being held in a maximum security prison in Mozambique on an accusation of “supporting terrorism” because of an intended routine flight to deliver vitamins and other needed supplies to orphanages trapped by ongoing jihadist violence in the northern part of the country. No formal charges have been filed yet these three months they’ve been in prison.
Today, we’d like to share with you an encouraging letter from Ryan on January 10, which he asked his wife Annabel to share with those who have been praying for them:
Hi all. I pray you are having a wonderful new year!
The chief of our building has been very kind to us and cares for our well-being. He negotiated with his superiors to allow us one hour of outside time every day. We’ve been going out for almost a week now and it has been very refreshing to get some sun. For this we praise God.
The other day, some prisoners said to me that they could tell that I’m a very strong person, and they were asking me if I had been in the military. I told them I’ve never been in the military, and that I’m really not a strong person, but it’s because I have thousands of people praying for me. Indeed I don’t have any strength in myself, but the Lord sustains me, and by His grace I am able to stand. So God should get all the glory, as I claim none for myself.
Again, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the response of God’s people in love and prayer for me and my family. Your prayers are effective, and I am greatly encouraged. The three of us have what we think is allergies of some kind. The only symptom is itchiness. We have several types of ointment that help a bit. But it’s been a test of our patience. Please pray for perseverance as we wait for the Lord. But most of all, pray the the Lord would use us to reach the lost and be faithful witnessing while we are here. May the Lord’s will be done, and may He be glorified in this situation.
Psalm 73:25-26, Jeremiah 9:23-24, 2 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
Ryan

Let’s continue praying for these three men, that the charges will be dropped and they will be able to return home soon. Pray also for Annabel and the Kohers’ two preschool sons as they miss their father dearly.
