A pastor in Uganda remains in intensive care, fighting for his life, after Muslim extremists poisoned him and a couple newly converted from Islam.
Pastor Francis Kutekereza led the couple to Christ in October. Soon after, he began receiving threats from Muslim extremists: “We have known that your mission … is to deceive (the formerly Muslim couple) into joining your Christian religion. We warn you to stop with immediate effect.”
Then on November 24, as the pastor and couple met for prayer, seven Muslims stormed the house, holding them down and forcing them to eat poison-laden bananas.
“It was a real struggle,” the husband told Morning Star News. “Three men held the pastor, and the remaining four were on our necks. We took some little pieces of bananas before escaping, but the pastor could not escape.”
The couple received treatment at a health clinic for three weeks and were released on December 14, but the pastor remains in critical condition.
- Pray for protection over these new Christians, as their lives are still in danger from their extremist neighbors. Pray God will arrange for relocation to a safe place, and provide a good church to disciple them.
- Pray God will make the way for the pastor to get the treatment he needs, spare his life and restore his body completely. Pray also he will be protected from further attacks and continue to preach the good news.
- Pray for other believers in Uganda who are in danger, that God will be a Shield around them, and whenever anyone tries to come against them, they will see His angels and tremble in fear.
- Pray God will anoint every Christian with joy, love and peace, and give them courage to forgive those who do such horrible acts against them. Pray the lost will see their love and fall to their knees in repentance and surrender to Christ.
