More than 80 percent of Ugandans are Christian. The constitution and other laws provide for religious freedom, including the right to evangelize. And yet, Islamic terrorists regularly attack Christians, especially those involved in leading Muslims to Christ.
Pastor Frank Mutabaazi received several threats from Muslim extremists on his phone demanding that he stop evangelistic events. One message read, “We have been monitoring your evil activities of changing our members to Christianity. Let this be known to you that your life is at risk.”
On December 22, after the pastor preached at an evening church service in Kampala, a Muslim extremist pretending to be a Christian greeted him, praised him for his “wonderful sermon” and asked for a ride.
“On my way to the main road, the gentleman started making several phone calls,” Pastor Mutabaazi told Morning Star News. When they arrived at an intersection, he asked to get out of the car. “As he came out of the vehicle, three men dressed in Islamic attire appeared and pulled out a bottle and started spraying on me through the window while shouting and mentioning that I am an enemy of their religion as well as a deceiver who is not worthy to live.”
Pastor Mutabaazi woke up in a nearby clinic suffering from severe acid burns. He can see only dimly out of one eye and has trouble eating and talking due to the burns from the acid attack. His shoulder was also seriously burned, and he cannot sleep without painkillers. (See photo.)
- Pray for miraculous healing, that God will restore his sight, strengthen him, protect him and return him to ministry soon.
- Pray for protection over all believers, especially pastors and evangelists, who are in danger. Pray God will surround them with His angels, and when those bent on evil come against them they will see the angels, tremble, back off and bow down in surrender to God Almighty.
