Powering Up for 2023

As hard as 2022 has been, this next year will see its own trials. Are you prepared?

Prayer is your pathway through. New year’s resolutions will not get you where the Lord is taking you. Instead, ask Him what He wants to do in you and through you this coming year. And then step into His empowering to do that together with Him.

This IS your goal for the new year and every year: To draw near to Christ. To love Him with all your heart. To make HIM your priority every moment. To listen to His lead and walk out together with Him into every dark and difficult situation shining like the light He created you to be. Loving as He first loved you. Becoming more and more like Him every moment.

As 2022 comes to a close, take some time to get alone with Jesus and look over this last year with Him. Was there anything He was asking you to do that you haven’t done yet? Or anything He asked you to stop doing that you are still engaged in? What has been keeping you from obedience? That is the first thing you want to tackle, and don’t wait until the new year. Do it now with the Lord. Ask Him what barriers have kept you from listening to Him, and then ask Him to help you tear those down.

Lord, please show me what You have for me this coming year. Is there a special theme You want to show me? Or a book in the Bible You want me to focus on? Or something special You want me to do that I haven’t even thought of yet? Help me hand all my desires, tasks, dreams and opinions over to You, and especially what others expect of me. I want to spend this coming year running after You, seeking You daily for Your heart, loving others through Your love, and busying myself with only the things You are leading me to do so I don’t burn out. Because burnout happens when I’m doing more than You have asked me to do, or I’m doing it in my own power. So teach me to rest in You, to lay my schedule at Your feet, and to walk out in the things of Your heart all throughout the day. Some days, my schedule tends to run away with me and then the end of the day comes and I realize I was just doing, not seeking. Teach me how to seek You in every moment and find where You are and how You’re leading me. I want to see others through Your eyes, do the things that matter most, and not let circumstances overwhelm me. Increase my faith, O God. And my obedience. In Your name. Amen.
