Praying God will meet you and your family in deep, meaningful ways as you celebrate Christ today.
Lord, please protect our family time together this Christmas. Fill our homes with Your felt presence and block any enemy plans. Guide all our conversations into You. Help us forgive one another and listen to each other. Tear down every wall of miscommunication, and help those around us feel safe to share their hearts. Use us to speak Your words of truth, grace and love. Wherever there have been feuds or grudges, please grant humility and courage to step over those walls and love. Give those who have wandered from You a deep hunger to draw near. Bring the prodigals home. Rescue those we love who are in danger. Heal those who are sick. Comfort those who are grieving. Save those who are lost. And give us all a joy-filled Christmas, Lord, with hope and faith in You for the New Year. In Your name. Amen.
Let’s also remember the more than one million Canadians and Americans without power this Christmas Day in extreme freezing conditions. More than 250 million people have been affected by this massive winter storm, and at least 19 have died so far.
Lord, please bring the lights and warmth back on. Comfort those who mourn and are suffering. As people cry out to You, answer them like only You can. Show them ways to stay warm. Make a way for repairmen to quickly fix the lines. Rescue those in danger. Wrap Your arms around every person who is freezing right now and warm them. We ask You for signs and miracles and wonders to turn every heart to You. So many of those suffering right now do not yet know You personally. Please come to them in very personal ways, especially in answer to their prayers. Show them You are the God who saves. Remind them of verses they have heard and truths others have spoken about You. Point them to their Bibles to read and draw near. Open up to the pages to just the passages You want them to read, and touch them deeply, Jesus, from Your heart to theirs, like never before. Let them feel Your presence near and know You as the God Who Sees Me. Remind them they are not forgotten. And then draw them up into Your arms and into Your Kingdom. Bring them to repentance and forgive them, Let this Christmas of the storm be the day true Peace comes to reside in their hearts. Awaken the Americas to You, O God. Awaken Your churches to grow vibrant and thrive, shining warmth and light into the darkness. And awaken the lost to seek You and find You. For only You are the answer to our deepest longings. Only You can fill us with the love, joy and peace we seek. In Your name. Amen.
