Pray for Afghanistan’s Future

Since the Taliban gained control in August of 2021, about 90% of Afghanistan’s population has plunged into poverty and hunger. Oppressive restrictions against women have also increased, including forbidding girls from attending high school. Most have been helping their families with planting vegetables and other meager means of staying alive. This week, Afghan authorities allowed girls to take high school graduation exams, even though they’ve been banned from studies for more than a year. Afghanistan is 99.8% Muslim and the most dangerous country in the world.

O Father of All, we ask for Your mercy as winter sets in and those who hunger suffer all the more. Don’t let even one more person die without hearing the good news of Your love, salvation and the hope of eternal life. Please end this oppressive regime. Destroy every evil plot against the people of Afghanistan and open the doors wide for hope and freedom. Shield every Christian from persecution and harm. Protect women and girls from abuse and danger. Prepare for every child a future where they can experience peace and freedom, where every person has the right to hear the gospel and choose You as Savior. Make Yourself known to every heart and lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. Invade their dreams each night. Visit them in visions throughout the day. Open up the internet for those with phones or other means of access. Make a path for Christian aid to enter the country and Christian doctors to tend to the hungry, sick and injured. O Father, bring help. Have mercy, please, on the thousands who are dying without the chance to know of Your great love. Break those who are terrorizing their country. Flatten them with fear of the Lord. Force them to open the way for Your good news to enter so that every heart will hear and be saved. As hungry as people are for food, O God, make them all the more hungry for You. Provide a way out for them, so they can escape terror and starvation, and meet the One who is Life instead. When they seek You, meet them in extraordinary ways. Provide manna from Heaven, both spiritual and edible. May they meet the Bread of Life, receive Your salvation, and spread word of You throughout the land. Turn what the enemy has meant for great evil into a pathway for every heart to find eternal life through Christ. We ask You for a great awakening in Afghanistan, with every heart turning from death to Life. Forever.
