A devastating landslide on the island of Ischia, Italy, collapsed buildings and swept vehicles out to sea this weekend, killing at least eight people, including three children. Rescues are underway to seek those still missing.
Italy is home to 23 unreached people groups, most of those Muslim.
Lord, please rescue those in danger, heal the wounded and comfort those who mourn. When family members and rescuers cry out to You, answer them in such a way that they know it is You. Let them feel You near, hear Your voice and know Your salvation. We ask You for a great awakening to Your love and truth all throughout Italy. So many millions have clung to religion without a true relationship with the One who created them for His glory. Invade their space, get up in their face, topple their idols, and lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. Give them such a deep hunger they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. We ask You for signs and miracles and wonders. For the lame to walk, the blind to see, but most of all, for hearts to be transformed so radically by the power of Your love that loving You will become the new norm in Italy. Raise up young people who will go opposite the trend of this generation, courageous Christians who will stand for what is good and right, filled with the power of Your presence within them and preaching Your Good News with such fire, multitudes will be drawn to You like moths to a flame. Invade the dreams of those who cling to Islam, idol worship, tradition and every other barrier that has kept them from the One who is Truth. Strengthen Your churches in Italy, Lord. Make every follower of Christ a safe place for those around them. Give them favor and boldness to share the Gospel even in the face of opposition or ridicule. Bring dead churches back alive to serve You and reach out to their communities with such purpose and love that many will want to know the God who fills them with peace and power to overcome. Anoint every pastor, evangelist, missionary and Christian to love and share Your Good News in such a way that every person in all of Italy will hear of Your plan for their salvation and open their arms wide to receive You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
