Stories from Syria: A Dream of Jesus

Here at the Prayer Wall, as we pray for the Middle East, we often pray for Jesus to meet Muslims in their dreams, because that is one of the main ways they are coming to faith without access to the Gospel.

This week, a missionary friend shared with me this story about a Syrian woman we’ll call Ahlam (not her real name), living as a refugee in another Arab country. With an abusive husband and with her other family members scattered all throughout the Middle East, this very broken woman spent most of her time on her cell phone.

Then one night, Jesus showed up in her dream and handed her a cell phone. “You have many needs and you keep praying, but you don’t think I hear you,” He told her. “I want you to know that you have a personal line straight to Me and I hear your prayers.”

She placed her faith in Christ after that, and His love has transformed her heart, healing her brokenness.

• Pray for Muslim women like Ahlam, trapped in abusive marriages with no access to a Bible or any thread of hope in life. Pray they will hunger for Christ and He will meet them in their dreams and draw them to Himself like only He can. Pray they will place their faith in Him and He will transform their hearts, marriages and lives. Pray their husbands will also meet Jesus in their dreams and come to faith.
• Pray for Ahlam and other Christians who must live out their faith in Muslim areas, that God will protect them from persecution and harm. Pray He will make a way for them to connect safely with other believers and grow in their faith. Pray He will disciple them daily and they will have access to His Word.
• Pray for awakening among the Syrian and other refugees, that they will come to faith by the thousands, and God will bring forth a great church-planting movement all across the Muslim world.
