Worship and Overcome

When we worship God in the midst of our problems and pain, we bring Him joy, as He fights for us and triumphs over our enemy. 2 Chronicles 20; Isaiah 30:29-32; Psalm 149. 1 Samuel 16:14-23. The enemy flees, as God changes our focus from how big our problems are to how big our God is.

Lord, today I choose to worship You. In the middle of my mess. In the midst of my pain. In the dark hours of the night when my thoughts keep me awake. As I scroll through the news and cry out, “Please, Lord, come.” So much pain, so much sorrow, so much evil in this world, and for many of us, inside our own homes. Father, please, come and meet us here. We choose to lay down our fears, our hopes, our dreams, our aching for something more, we lay it all at Your feet. For YOU are the MORE we are longing for. You are the answer to every woe, the giver of the greatest of joy. You are mighty and powerful and holy and just. You do not let evil go unpunished, and yet You are gracious and abounding in love to the sinner who turns to You. You see the pain of the lonely one and set the orphans in families. You are near to the faint of heart and restore the strength of the weary. You are All-Powerful, and no problem takes You by surprise. You know every breath before it is breathed, every turn in the road before it is made. You know what is behind us, what we’re stepping in now, and what lies before us. You created us not to walk this road alone, but held safely in Your arms. Because You. Are. Just. That. BIG. Bigger than my problems. Bigger than my pain. Bigger than this earth and all the evil within it. Your greatness exceeds the minuscule speck of the enemy’s mark on this world, for You have already stepped into every corner he tries to take over and with one step of Your mighty foot, he is crushed. Defeated. For all time. Christ has already won that battle, and so we praise You, for no battle is too great for Your strong arm to save us. We call upon You now, O Creator of All, to step across this planet, sweeping across it with Your love, grace, peace and salvation, awakening each heart to Your light and crushing the enemy beneath Your feet. May all those who follow the way of evil fall. But we who trust in the Lord our God shall rise on eagle’s wings and soar. Exodus 19:4.
