Nearly 100 have died in a battle this week along the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia, bringing to remembrance the six-week war of 2020, where more than 6,500 people lost their lives.
Azerbaijan’s largely Muslim population of 10.3 million are 95 percent unreached with the gospel of Christ, while most of the 2.7 million people of Armenia claim Christianity. (See JoshuaProject.net.)
Lord, awaken both Armenia and Azerbaijan to You. Where Armenian believers have grown cold in their walk with You, revive them now. Remind them of Your love. Raise up a generation of young people on fire for Your name, ready to take Your gospel to the unreached. For their Muslim neighbors, Lord, give each heart a hunger for You. Call out missionaries to go and live among them to share with them Your good news. This border dispute over earthly territory has merely kicked land back and forth from one side to the other and back again, covering it with death. O Father, when will we learn? When will we see that our fight is not over occupying land in earthly kingdoms that are here today and gone tomorrow. Such craving cannot be satisfied. For our true Home is in Heaven. Earthly battles lose us to darkness. Only Your truth, love and grace can save us and bring us out of that darkness into Your light. Meet every soldier and officer and leader on both sides in such powerful ways, they will lay down their weapons and seek peace, but most of all, Lord, may they seek You. You have promised that if we seek You we will find You if we look for You in earnest. Jeremiah 29:13. So, give every soldier and every person in Azerbaijan and Armenia earnestness, HUNGER for You. Meet them in their dreams. Talk to them throughout the way. Connect them with truth on the internet and through Christians. And reverse their strategy from war to LOVE. From death to LIFE. With man this is impossible. But with You, God, all things are possible.
