Tired of the constant news of bombings, death and atrocities in Ukraine, our war-weary hearts can tend to wane in prayer, aid and even interest. Donations to Christian agencies like SendRelief.org that provide help for Ukrainians in need have a tendency to dwindle the longer the battle continues. But displaced families are still hungry and in need of shelter and warm clothes, blankets and other supplies as winter soon approaches. Damaged churches are in need of restoration and insulation. And pastors and counselors are needed to minister to the spiritual needs of those ravaged by trauma.
Let us not become weary in doing good.
Galatians 6:9a NIV
Lord, please be a Shield around those who are in danger now, whether in Ukraine or forcibly relocated to Russia. Wrap Your arms around them and let them feel You near. Comfort them with Your tender voice and provide for their needs. For those needing rescue, please make a way for their escape. Miraculously heal those who are wounded, and do it in such a way that they know it is You. When they cry out to You, answer them. Bring Christians to them to share with them Your good news, help them in their time of need, and provide a caring ear as they share their troubles.
Father, pastors and Christian counselors are needed. Please call to Ukraine those You will empower to help the lost find You and wounded hearts find freedom. Even in the midst of such terrible evil, let Your beautiful and perfect purposes emerge to conquer the enemy’s plans, to bring forth LIFE where so much death has happened. HOPE to those who are hopeless. FAITH to those who are anxious or afraid. PEACE to those whose hearts are in turmoil. And HEALING and FREEDOM to those plagued with traumatic remembrances of the atrocities they have seen.
Increase Your church by the thousands, Lord. Make every heart hungry to know You, and then bring to them Your good news in a way they can easily understand. Awaken Ukraine and Russia to Your love, Jesus. May they long for You as a deer pants for water in the desert, and run to You, knowing You are the only One who can bring purpose to their grief and hope for their future. Touch Christians’ hearts all throughout the world to give to those in need and provide shelter, food, jobs, compassion, counseling and everything else that is needed at this time.
May Your Kingdom come in Eastern Europe. Please bring an end to this war soon. Take down those who have perpetuated evil, and raise up in their stead leaders who will care for their countrymen and neighbors and fight for peace. Give current leaders wisdom in every decision. For those who are against listening to Your leadership, guide them and use them unawares.
For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
