Just after we prayed on Global Hunger Sunday, the first Ukrainian ship filled with grain bound for areas hard-hit by starvation and famine arrived in Djibouti. (A second shipment from Ukraine is expected to arrive in Yemen soon.) The plan is to transport the 23,000 metric tons of grain in this first shipment overland to Tigray in northern Ethiopia, where millions are starving due to drought and conflict. It should be enough to feed about 1.5 million for a month, but nearly twice that number are suffering from drought in Tigray alone, and 20 million throughout Ethiopia. Furthermore, renewed fighting has blocked humanitarian aid by road and air. It is expected that the neighboring regions of Amhara and Afar may receive some of the shipment. Lord, thank You for this answer to prayer in providing food for the hungry in Ethiopia, and hopefully Yemen, too. Please, now, open the way for the grain to get where You have planned for it to go. If to Tigray, then please stop the fighting and open up the roads. Make a way for Your good news to get in along with relief for those who are starving. Or get the shipments to others in desperate need. It will take millions of tons of grain to feed all the hungry in the Horn of Africa. Please, Father, have mercy. Thank You for this shipment for Ethiopia. Now, please, guard over the shipment headed to Yemen, and the others soon on the way to other nations. Please end the wars in Ukraine, Tigray, Yemen, and beyond. Feed the hungry. Care for the children. Heal the sick. Bring water to the thirsty. And make a way for Your gospel to reach every heart. Please don’t let even one more person die without the chance to know of Your great love and salvation. Tear down every wall. Awaken every heart to You, O God. Rescue those who are perishing. Bring LIFE where the enemy has brought death. Bring HOPE where he has sought desolation and destruction. Conquer his lies with TRUTH. Cast out every fear with Your LOVE. And save the nations, Lord. End the reign of darkness and terror. March in with Your armies of Light and change history now. Make it Your story. The year of awakening. When all the nations turn to You and fall to their knees before their Creator. Invade their space. Get up in their face. Remove the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. And save them, Lord, for all eternity. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in Ethiopia, Yemen and every nation. Amen.
