A measure of calm has returned to Sierra Leone now, after at least 21 demonstrators and six police officers died last week due to hundreds of people in several locations protesting rising prices.
Lord, please comfort those who mourn, and heal those who have been injured. As families suffer poverty and hardship, give every heart a hunger for the only One who truly satisfies. Tear down the walls of animism, Islam, language, and more that have kept nearly 1.5 million people from hearing the gospel. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are. Draw them up into Your arms and show them Your love. Make a way for them to meet Christians who will bless them through Your love and draw them into loving, truth-filled churches. Give them a hunger for You so deep they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Lord, Your church is growing more rapidly in Sierra Leone than in most parts of the world. As more and more people come to faith, anoint and empower them to share with all the more. Disciple every believer in deep ways, growing them strong in the faith. Begin a church-planting movement that will spread across the whole nation and beyond borders to other nations. Grow Your church in truth and love. Raise up from among the young people of Sierra Leone those who will follow You as evangelists and pastors, worship leaders and influencers, bringing millions to faith across the continent. May their passion for You be famous, as the Famous One spurs them on to love, pushing back the darkness with Your light. In Your name. Amen.
