Persecution and Unrest in the DRC

Due to uncounted deaths and injuries from current fighting against UN peacekeeping forces in the eastern area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, let’s pray for this mostly Christian nation oppressed by Islamic extremists. Violent attacks from the Muslim group, Alliance for Democratic Forces, have wiped out many churches and placed the DRC on the list of the top 50 most dangerous countries in the world for Christians.

Lord, amid the current fighting, please give UN and ADF forces, and others involved in the skirmishes, a deep, deep hunger for You. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. Visit them in their dreams. Draw them to Christian websites on the internet and on social media, and give them a clear gospel message they can respond to and be saved. May they drop their weapons, seek You with all their hearts and find You.

Be a Shield around every Christian, family and church in the DRC. Surround them with Your angel armies and keep them from harm. When Muslim terrorists come against them, let those bent on evil see with their own eyes the angels guarding Your people, blazing with such brilliant light they fall on their faces before You in fear and beg for forgiveness and salvation. Make a way for every heart in all of the DRC to hear the good news in a way they can easily understand and be saved. We especially ask You for the Muslim Arab, animistic Sere, Hindu South Asian, and Muslim Swahili people groups, and for every member of the ADR. Give them such a deep hunger for You they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Make Christians’ love, hope, peace, forgiveness and even joy be so evident that those who oppose them will ask them about their God, hear Your good news and choose You as Savior. Build Christian families and churches up strong in faith, love, unity and hope. Call out evangelists who will take Your gospel into the dark corners of the DRC to share with those who need You so desperately, and begin a church planting movement. Tear down every wall of hatred, prejudice, religion, demons and violence, and bring forth Your kingdom in every heart. Awaken the DRC to You, O God. Flood the darkness with Your light until every soul is saved and Your good news presses across the borders into surrounding countries and unreached peoples, as well. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
