“I don’t know what God you pray to, but keep going. He’s listening,” said a firefighter in New Mexico whose fire chief is a Christian.
Chief Mickey Richardson’s wife, along with other members of Angel Fire Baptist church had been holding special prayer services for firefighters, asking God for their protection, wisdom, strength and endurance. Several volunteer firefighters from that church also served in support roles for those on the frontlines of the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire.
The church also provided food, shelter, meals, showers and provisions to people displaced from their homes in Angel Fire and the surrounding communities, and served as the official evacuation site for a nearby reintegration center. They helped fund food distribution to those in need, and the church’s thrift store gave away items to evacuees and families who had lost their homes.

Lord, thank You for answering several of our specific prayers here at the Prayer Wall. for protecting firefighters and leading Christians to share Your love and bounty with those in need during this difficult time in New Mexico. Please rebuild Angel Fire into.a community on fire for You. Grow Christians deeper in their faith and draw the lost into Your church. Give firefighters and others from the community who don’t yet know You, but who saw Your love, provision and mercy in action, a deep hunger to know You personally. Bring Christians to them to answer their questions, counsel them through any trauma they have faced, and provide them with Bibles. Lead them to just the passages they need to feel Your touch moving them in Your direction. And save them from eternal fire, Lord. May they join Your Kingdom, enjoy Your abundant love here on Earth and live with You in Heaven for all eternity.
