Deaths, Protests in Iran

Last weekend, a tower collapsed, killing 36 people in Khuzestan, Iran, where Arabs have been protesting since April because of massive price increases on food and other vital goods.

Arabs are one of the 84 unreached people groups of Iran who have been cut off from hearing the Good News about Christ. In fact, Iran ranks ninth on the list of most dangerous countries for Christians and seekers. “The government sees the growth of the church in Iran as an attempt by Western countries to undermine Islam and the Islamic regime of Iran. House groups made up of converts from Muslim backgrounds are often raided, and both their leaders and members have been arrested, prosecuted and given long prison sentences for /crimes against national security.’” — Open Doors

Father God, please comfort those who mourn. As they cry out to You, answer them in ways that they will know it is You. Meet them in their dreams and show them Jesus. Give them such a deep, deep hunger for You that they will seek You with all their heart and find You. Make a way where there seems to be no way for every person of every tribe and tongue to hear Your Good News in a way they can easily understand and turn to You. Tear down the walls government, religion, persecution, culture, difficult terrain, isolation and languages have built against seeking Christ. Make a way for the Bible to be available to every person audibly and written in their heart language. Protect and provide favor for underground churches to spread Your truth widely. Be a Shield of protection around every Christian, especially those who have converted from Islam, and give them boldness to share Your Good News with the lost. Provide for their every need and use them as a light in the darkness, drawing hundreds of hungry Muslims into Your fold. Where there is poverty, dear Lord, please bring food, water and other provisions, accompanied by a clear demonstration of Your love and Gospel. You are greater than oppressive regimes and violent, hateful men. Rise up, O God, and fight on behalf of the downtrodden, the lonely, the hurting, the persecuted. Perform signs and miracles and wonders to turn all eyes to You. Awaken Iran to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
