Floods in Afghanistan

At least 22 people have been killed and 40 injured due to heavy rainfall and flooding in Afghanistan. At least 500 houses have been destroyed, 2,000 homes damaged, 300 head of livestock killed and about 3,000 acres of crops damaged. All this comes after years of drought, war, terrorism and starvation. Let’s pray.

Lord, once again we come before You asking for Your mercy on the peoples of Afghanistan. They have suffered much, and most still have never heard Your Good News. Please make a way for them to know You. More than their hunger for food, give them a hunger for the Bread of Life. More than their need for shelter, be their Strong and Mighty Tower. Cover them with Your love, O God. Lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. And then come and meet each person in such powerful ways they cannot deny the Truth, and surrender their hearts to You. When the peoples of Afghanistan seek You, may they find You, O God. Jeremiah 29:13. Come and meet their every need in such a personal way they will know it is You who did that. Bring Christians to them to show them Your kindness and love. Open up connections with churches and loving Christians through social media, internet, and other means, so they can meet those who will share Your Good News in a way they will receive. Comfort those who mourn. Provide shelter for those who are homeless. Feed the hungry. Provide for the poor. Rescue those in danger. Be a Shield around every seeker and Christian in Afghanistan, guarding them against evil, injury, illness and persecution. When those who seek to do them harm come near, surround Christians and seekers with Your angel armies and block the way. Make those angels visible to each persecutor, bringing them to their knees before You in fear of the Lord and in repentance. Bring forth a great awakening all throughout Afghanistan to Your love. Make a way for those of every language and tribe to hear Your message of hope and salvation in a way they can easily understand. And save them, God. Turn the battle around so that all the enemy has meant for harm all these many years now turns into the very means You use to bring about the salvation of millions and the planting of thousands of multiplying churches in Afghanistan. Show Yourself strong, O God. Don’t let even one more person die without knowing the truth of Your Son Jesus. Please, Lord, have mercy. Reveal Your Truth to every person in Afghanistan, and lead them to follow You in obedience so Your Truth will set them free. John 8:31-32. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
