Day 14 of 30: Africa (Central and Southern)

30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening

Bible Reading: Isaiah 35

Lord, violence and persecution have made so many people in this region live in fear. Because of Islamic oppression, four of these countries have been ranked among the most dangerous for those who want to follow Christ. We ask You, God, for miraculous intervention. Shine Your light into dark hearts and awaken them to who You truly are. Make persecutors come face-to-face with You, like Paul did. Give them such a fear of the Lord and a hunger for Your love and truth that they will lay down their weapons and surrender to You. Whenever they advance on an innocent child or person, block them with Your angel armies. If they lift a hand against a Christian, fill that believer with faith, love, and peace so serene that those watching will see and stop in wonder. Provide a way of escape for those in danger. Intervene in dangerous situations in such a way that violent oppressors will see Your armies and be struck with fear of the Lord, falling to their knees before You. Tear down every wall the enemy has built against You. Break the chains to spirit worship, Islam, enmity between tribes, and everything else that holds the lost in bondage to the one who comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Offer Your abundant life in an invitation they can’t refuse. John 10:10. Demolish wrong and bring forth right. Destroy lies with Your truth. Raise up Christians with a heart for the 100 or so unreached people groups in these nations. Make a way for Your Word to be proclaimed in all their languages so everyone has the chance to know You. Many of these peoples are animistic, living in fear of evil spirits, not knowing that the God of Love wants to win the battle for their souls. Whenever witchdoctors try to perform their dark rituals, invade that place with Your angel armies. Defeat the powers of darkness and set the people free. Give every person such a longing for You that when Your seeds of truth are planted, they sprout unto salvation. Open the hearts of those who have been closed to Your Gospel, surprising them with Your voice and Your felt presence. Awaken them to Your love, rescue them from the enemy’s plans for their lives, and save them, O God. Grow Your church by the millions, until Your praises are proclaimed in every desert, mountain, village, city, home and heart.

Parallel Prayer: Our 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening coincides with Ramadan. April 2-May 1, Muslims throughout the world are fasting and seeking God right now. Let’s pray they find Him!

Lord, please tear down the idols of religion, enmity, prejudice, abuse and violence in the hearts of Muslims in Central African Republic, Congo (DRC), Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Madagascar, Nigeria, Mozambique, Cameroon, Comoros, Mauritius, Sao Tome/Principe, and Seychelles. Show them the better Way, the only way to truly LIVE. Show them Your love, Jesus. Let them hear Your Good News in a way that they can easily understand, and give them courage to surrender to You. Open the hearts of their families to also receive You, so that entire villages will come to Christ all at once. As Muslims place their faith in You, use those new Christians to spread Your love in powerful ways among all the more lost. And change them, Lord, so dramatically that a great awakening to You spreads among Muslim communities throughout this whole region and beyond. In Your name. Amen.

Dinner and a Prayer: If you want to deepen your family’s prayer adventure, search the internet to choose recipes from Central African Republic, Congo (DRC), Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Madagascar, Nigeria, Mozambique, Cameroon, Comoros, Mauritius, Sao Tome/Principe, and/or Seychelles.
