30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening
Bible Reading: Luke 15:11-32
Do you have loved ones who once attended church but now have gone their own way? Pray for them by name as we pray today….
Lord, we ask You for those who were raised in the church but turned their back on You to run after the things of this world. Topple every lie that tells them they’re not good enough, or that what they’re looking for isn’t found in You, or that they have no other choice now that they’ve wandered so far. Protect them, Lord, even as they make wrong choices. Guard their hearts so they will find their way safely back to You. Turn every bad situation into an open door to step out of darkness back into the Light. Draw them through that door with a longing so strong they won’t be able to resist Your love. Remind them of the words of Truth they heard when they were younger. That forgiveness is standing there ready to remake them. That there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1. Topple every lie. Bring them to the end of themselves, so they will long for the abundant life they were created for. John 10:10. Whatever grip the enemy has on them, break those chains, Father, and set them free. Give them visions of happier days and a longing for freedom so great, they will cry out to You, turn their back on their prison cells, grab Your hand, and step from destruction and death into LIFE. We speak LIFE over them now, in the name of Jesus. HOPE. The promise of a future. Jeremiah 29:11-14. And hunger. May they find themselves so famished for true love and acceptance, they return home in hope of even just a morsel. Then wrap them in Your arms of grace and satisfy them fully with Your love. Pursue them until they stop running and surrender to You. Then build them back up into the holy purposes You created them for, using everything the enemy meant for evil to bring forth great good. Yes, Lord. Make this the year all the prodigals come home.
Parallel Prayer: Our 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening coincides with Ramadan. April 2-May 1, Muslims throughout the world will be fasting and seeking God. Let’s pray they find Him! (For families, you might enjoy a free guide for children to pray for Muslims.)
Lord, today we ask You specifically for Muslims who have strayed from or aren’t practicing Islam. As they chase after earthly things and seek to gratify their own cravings, keep them dissatisfied. Give them a deep conviction that the way they are living is not enough, that they want more, and then sweep in and show them that that more they are longing for is You, Jesus. Build a hunger in them that drives them to seek You. Then make the way for them to hear Your Good News. Meet them in their dreams. Bring Christians to them to love them into Your arms. As they search the internet, take them to sites that speak the truth about Christ, and stir their hearts as they read to want to know more. Then point them the way to salvation. Make Bibles available to them in their heart language. Draw them into loving churches grounded in the Word. Take them on a search to find You, as You pursue them in such personal ways they veer off their present path and step onto the One You’ve laid for them, unable to resist Your love. When they make that choice to place their faith in Christ, transform them in such powerful and visible ways, they exhibit so much love, peace and joy that everyone around them will notice and will choose You, too. Galatians 5.
Dinner and a Prayer: If you want to deepen your family’s prayer adventure this day, ask the Lord if there’s someone in particular He wants you to pray for who has strayed from Him. Then, if He leads, ask that person what their favorite dish is and invite them for dinner. As you talk together, ask what some of the hardest things they’re facing right now are and if you can pray for them. For those God has laid on your heart that can’t come for dinner, you can also do that over the phone. Many hearts, once closed, have opened up to Christ once they see a Christian’s love, or see how God answers prayer. Ask the Lord if there’s a special gift you can send them or some other way He wants your family to show them love.
