As I stood with other believers amid the rubble in the early morning, I watched a man load up his bicycle with what food he could carry. I wondered how he was going to ride that bike out of there with all the debris in the way, and where he planned to go, now that nowhere was safe. Suddenly, I realized I was there. In Ukraine. The believers standing with me, filled with peace and hope, were those who had remained because God called them to share His love in the midst of war. And the man, who had loaded his bike with pies and armfuls of herbs, was not fleeing the country, but taking supplies to those in need.
This morning, as I awakened from that dream (and another, in the midst of refugees), this is the information in the news that the Lord asked me to share with you today for prayer: More than 3.2 million refugees have fled Ukraine in a little more than three weeks, while about 12 million people are stranded within their battle-battered country, unable to flee. Over 6.4 million of those are displaced from their homes.
Our topics each day at the Prayer Wall are not random. They are God-chosen and Spirit-led. In fact, for weeks now, the Lord has almost daily taken me into the heart of the countries we are praying for through dreams. (For a free guide to knowing God’s voice, go to MoreThanAConquerorBooks.com.) During this unprecedented time in history, prayer is vital. It is the way Sovereign God invites us to join with Him in changing lives and seeing His kingdom come here on earth.
If you are following us on Facebook, you will miss seeing most of the Prayer Wall posts due to the way FB chooses what appears in your feed. So, please sign up at our website, so you can join with other believers daily in praying for the things on God’s heart. Here is that link: https://prayerwallforthenationandtheworld.wordpress.com.
You can actually save the Prayer Wall similar to an app on your phone by opening the Prayer Wall home page in your browser, then clicking the browser’s drop down menu and pressing “Add to Home screen.” (In Google, that menu is three dots at the top right of the screen.) You can then easily press the icon daily to see each new Prayer post at the Wall.
Lord, You have said that in this world, we will have trouble, but to take heart, for You have overcome the world. You are our Hope, Jesus. John 16:33. please grow within every Ukrainian their need for a Savior, now more powerfully than ever. Place Your name upon their lips. As they cry out to You, answer them and save them. May they see Your hand crashing down upon all that is meant to harm, and know You are the One who has rescued them. Surround them with Your angels, shield them from evil, and call them into Your arms with a deep sense of Your felt presence. Guide them through each terrifying moment with peace, hope and purpose, carrying them to safety in Your arms. Exodus 19:4. Remind them of what truth they have heard about You, and present to them clearly Your plan of salvation, whether through Christians, a Bible that appears in the rubble, a post on the internet, a dream, a vision, or some other way. Show them how Your goodness and mercy pursue them everywhere they run or hide. Give them courage now to surrender their life, their future, their hopes, their dreams, their everything to You. For only You can bring chaos into order. Only You, Father God, can turn Ukraine’s orphans into Your sons and daughters. Show every person who is lost the Way to You. John 14:6. Have mercy on those who are trapped, those trying to escape, those who are homeless and hurting, those who mourn their lost loved ones and homes, and those who wait amidst crowds of refugees with no idea where they will live or how they will provide for their families. Surround each one with Christians who lovingly care for their needs and share with them the Good News of Hope only You can give. Awaken the heart of every Ukrainian, wherever they are right now, to Your love. Strengthen Christians in their faith, and fill them with love, peace, joy and hope as they share Christ. Empower them to speak words of comfort from Your heart to those who are anxious. Shield and protect them from harm, and abundantly bless them, multiplying their stores of food and medicine so miraculously they never run out, and those in need will constantly revisit them to hear of Your love. Shine so brightly through every believer that thousands will place their faith in You, emerging from this battle not only safe, but victorious. Be also with Christians who are refugees, Lord. As they await transportation to a future unknown, fill them with peace and trust in You, so that those who are anxious will take note and ask about You. Step into every Ukrainian life, Lord, and make Yourself known. Become the subject of every conversation, burning within them a hunger to know You. Awaken Ukraine to You, O God. From the anguish of death and rubble in people’s hearts, bring forth new life. In Your name. Amen.
