Praying into the Heart of Russia

In the midst of all the world is facing, God’s been calling me to report briefly on the news, but deeply on His heart. Wars, devastation, atrocities — none of this is new. We live in a fallen world where sin has made a terrible mark. We as Christ’s body must rise up from out of the sin and devastation to speak forth LOVE now like never before. We must PRAY for His kingdom to come to every heart. For the Gospel to reach every person in powerful ways. For the chains to break and souls to be set free to know the God who created us for GOOD and special purposes.

People of Light, run into the darkness when God calls you, because that is how shadow gives way — under the weight of extravagant love.

Wherever you are, lay down every hindrance to your witness and get your heart right with God.* The closer we walk with Him, the more powerfully His love will shine through us. Learn to recognize God’s voice** so you can pray in the Spirit and walk out in the joy of His empowering and felt presence.

Because when prayer is the work, missions happens.

These past few daily posts, the Lord has given me dreams to see into those places where people are facing great anguish. Last night’s dream was from deep within the heart of Russia, and as I searched the news this morning, this quote stood out:

“There was a big love of my life, Russia, and now it’s dead as well.”

Maria Baronova, former chief editor at RT (formerly Russia Today), in a recent interview with BBC. Baronova is one of a flood of conflicted journalists in Russia who have recently resigned or taken “vacation” since the invasion of Ukraine.

Lord, as the things people have placed their hope and trust in crumble now, step in and show them Your love in personal ways. Invade their darkness with Your light. If nothing else gets through the blockades against media, blast through this message to every heart: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NASB. O God, we are all so in need of a Savior. Please rush in to show Yourself to the Russian peoples, especially now as they fear for their future and as their thoughts are conflicted with lies and rumors of truth. Step in and be the One they place their trust in. All else may fail, but Your love never fails, Your truth is unending and Your Word never passes away. Give them a hunger to know You so fervent they will search for You with all their heart and find You. When they reach for the bottle, may they grab a Bible instead. When they lash out at others, may they find Your grace. When they seek true news, may they hear tales of Your goodness. Over and over in history, You have protected believers and provided for them in miraculous ways. Through the trials they have endured, You have given them peace. For You are Peace. Now, O God, come and do that again in such extravagant ways that Christians’ personal testimonies will spread like wildfire, burning within the hearts of those who hear the desire to know a God like that. Invade Russia with Your armies of Light. Steal into every home and heart, exposing Yourself in such intimate ways people will stop what they’re doing, take notice, and open their hearts to receive Your grace. Bless believers so abundantly, they will in turn bless those around them in need, drawing people to You. May those who have trusted in an earthly kingdom place their hope now in the Kingdom that never passes away. Wipe away their tears, Lord, with the joy of salvation, and send away their fears with the power of Your love. Awaken Russia to You, O God. From the ashes of this war, bring forth revival.
