Christians Share Love amidst War

As we continue praying for Korea, Taiwan, Ukraine, and the world, let’s pray for protection and anointing over Christians in Ukraine, as they share God’s love and help feed and rescue those left behind, and also for Christians now dispersed as refugees in other countries.

In the past, Ukraine has been called the “Bible Belt” of Eastern Europe and a “hub of evangelical church life, education, and missions.” Let’s pray now that the Gospel will spread widely through Christians’ love, faith and hope in the midst of this crisis, igniting a hunger for the Lord in those who meet them and resulting in millions of Ukrainians, Russians and those of all nations coming to Christ.

“There is hope to be found in what we are watching unfold in the hearts of the Ukrainian people as they face this crisis. But even more so in the hearts of believers,” reported Ukraine’s Word of Life a few days ago. At the time, Christians were driving back and forth, taking supplies into Kyiv, and carrying refugees out. A woman saw one of those Christians “purchasing food and supplies at a store. ‘Where are you taking those supplies?’ she asked. ‘To Kyiv,’ said Sergey. She immediately pulled out cash and handed it to him to purchase even more. Not long after, another stranger heard where they were headed and offered his entire van load of food and supplies to take with them.”

“We’re not safe,” shared a Christian family that managed to get out of Ukraine. “No one we love is safe. There are still people back home. We’re not detached from what is happening. Right now, we’re mentally struggling to reconcile all of the things we’re feeling and thinking — our desire for safety, the lack of control, our desire to trust God, our desire to serve others, our desire for it all to end. But we almost can’t help but think about eternity when we start to fear. We are in a position where we truly feel that the only answer is Christ, that He is the only One that we can run to.”

Lord, we ask You to be a Shield around every Christian still in Ukraine, waiting at the borders to relocate, and dispersed throughout Eastern Europe as refugees. Protect them from harm and supply their every need so abundantly that they will have more than enough to share with those around them. In this time of great difficulty, draw so near they can feel Your touch, hear Your voice, experience Your guidance and protection every moment. Whenever they cry out to You, answer them, O God. Give them boldness and the empowering of Your Holy Spirit to share Your Good News with everyone around them. Press within the hearts of the lost such a deep hunger for the joy, peace and love they see in Christians that they believe in You and are saved. Plant churches among the refugees and among those hiding below ground in Ukraine. As Christians congregate in twos, threes or more to worship You with songs of hope, to read Your Word aloud, and to pray in the midst of such terrible circumstances, descend upon them in such beautiful ways many will see and be saved. As the lost fear for their lives and for their loved ones, bring Christians around them to offer them hope, to pray for them out loud, and to openly show them the love and care they so desperately need. As Christians pray for those who are injured, answer, O God, with miracles of healing. As they pray for rescue, protection and resources, answer in powerful ways. And as they pray for peace, for this war to end and lives to be saved, answer them in such a way it is evident You are the One who is in control. We ask You, Lord, to convict Russian soldiers so severely of the evil they are forced to commit, they desert their ranks; and when they do, bring Christians around them to love them, help them and share Your Good News in such a way those soldiers find Life in the place where the enemy used them to bring death. Transform Russian hearts all across the warfront and even in their own country. Turn the war around, O God, by Your mighty hand. Protect the children and families of Ukraine. Protect Your churches. Protect the soldiers. Provide for their needs. Put an end to the killing, O God. Where the thief has come to steal, kill and destroy, come now, O Jesus, and bring LIFE. John 10:10.
