At least ten people have died and thousands have fled their homes in eastern Australia, where heavy rain and floods hit Queensland and New South Wales over the past few days. Sydney now braces as they face the same weather. Let’s pray.
Lord, please rescue those in danger, comfort those who mourn, and provide for those in need. Move Christians to aid in rescues and open up their homes, offering food, shelter, clothing and especially hope to those who have lost theirs. Empower Christians to share Your Good News in such a way that all who hear will feel Your love, see Your grace, and choose salvation. Give the lost such a hunger for You that even those who have resisted Your love in the past can do so no longer. As the weather hits Sydney, please reach into every home and heart and awaken a longing for You within them. When they cry out to You, answer them, O God, with great displays of Your love and grace. Provide the way for their escape, and bring Christians into their path to show them Your love. Awaken Australia to You, O Lord. Show them who You are. Where those who have trusted in the security of their possessions now fear for their future, rush in to meet them with hope. Be their Rescue and Salvation. Use this great tragedy to bring many hope such as they hav never known before. May the floodwaters of Your love sweep over all of Australia turning thousands to You.
