As Russia Presses In

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced recognition of independence for the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic regions in eastern Ukraine, and this morning tanks were seen rolling into the outskirts of Donetsk. With approximately 150,000 Russian troops surrounding Ukraine on three sides now, and troops from the US and other countries moving into place nearby, let’s pray.

Abba Father, our prayers are for peace. For Your protection over Ukraine and every country affected. For the oppressor to stand down, back out, cease aggression. For wisdom for those making decisions in response. For lives to be saved. For Your mercy and guidance. For a peaceful resolution. But most of all, we ask for You to reign, to bring about Your purposes, the greatest of which is drawing us to Yourself. Earthly governments rise and fall, vying for power but to no end, for nothing people seek to gain of this earth will remain. Only Your Kingdom, only Your reign, Jesus, is without end. So, today we ask You for those along the edges, no matter which side they are on. As they obey commands, as they fear for their lives, as they move in closer, and as they defend home and family, we ask for Your name upon their lips. As they cry out to You, hear their cries and answer them. Meet them in powerfully personal ways. May they feel You near, see the evidence of You, and hear Your voice. For some, that will be a moment of holy terror. For others Your presence will bring peace. To all, Lord, we ask You to extend Your grace and open hearts to receive Your salvation. Life matters, Lord. Fighting for our families and right values matter greatly. But if we do not choose to fight the real battle in the unseen arena, where the One whose name is Life is on our side, then we will miss out on what we were created for; so, please, Father, draw each person to You right now. Expose the empty places in their hearts, making it very clear that You are the only One who can fill those needs; You are the only One who gives us abundant life. John 10:10. Pursue every person in Ukraine and surrounding areas, and do not relent until all have heard Your Good News and have seen Your hand extended to offer salvation. Give them a hunger for the Living God of Peace, and then sweep in to rescue them with Your love and grace. We ask You, please, to send Your angel armies into all of Ukraine, but especially Luhansk and Donetsk right now. Protect the innocent, touch every heart and family, show Yourself strong, and turn all eyes to You. May every heart caught up in this fight surrender to You and find true peace. at last. Awaken Russia, awakenUkraine, awaken every heart and nation to You, O God.
