These past couple of weeks, we’ve been praying through Isaiah 51. Today, as we look at verses 12-13, ask the Lord to bring to mind times when you have made decisions based on fear — especially fear of man — rather than seeking God for what He wanted to do through you in that situation. Proverbs 3:5-6.
Lord, please set us free from anxiety and fear, especially of the future or of what others think of us. Teach us to rest in You. To not let fear rule us, but to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness and seek You before making decisions. Don’t let us build up our own walls of self-protection, for we have a real enemy and it’s not our brother. You are our Protector. When we take Your job into our own hands, we expose ourselves all the more to enemy attacks. So, teach us to seek Your wisdom rather than relying on our own. Expose every enemy lie we believe that causes us worry or stress. Tear it down with Your truth, and restore to us the love, joy and peace that are ours through Christ. Remind us of what we were created for — not to live in fear or to bully others into living in fear — but to know Your great love for us, love You back, and draw others to You through Your love in us. For “Perfect love drives out fear.” 1 John 4:18. So, perfect us now with Your love, O God, and we will be free indeed. John 8:36.
