This past week, we have been praying through Isaiah 51, as we consider the trials facing so many all throughout the world. Praying Scripture is powerful, because we are agreeing with Truth and praying for what we already know is His heart.
Today, let’s pray Isaiah 51:7b-8, asking the Lord for protection, courage, and empowering for those who stand for what is right and good, but who are persecuted relentlessly by those who disagree, who have been blinded by the enemy and push his purposes, rather than God’s.
Lord, please make us strong and courageous as we fight for the things of Your heart. Remind us to fear You, not man, to put on salvation and righteousness as our armor and to fight for eternal things. For those who do the enemy’s bidding, who fight against Truth and Love, will pass away; but Your Word endures forever, and Your love never fails. Don’t let us flinch in the face of insults or batterings, but give us courage and Your Spirit’s power to bless those around us, forgive those who sin against us, protect those in need, speak truth to destroy lies, and love where hatred and violence have sought to rule. Father, so many political and other leaders today have built their careers on lies and corruption. Expose them and bring about their downfall immediately. Raise up in their place those who seek You and follow Your agendas; whose desire is to bless the people, not oppress; who will open the way for truth, love and mercy to reign. Protect those who are persecuted. Right what has been wronged. Rescue those in need. And turn all eyes to You. Give those who have believed the lies courage, wisdom and humility to listen to Truth and change. Awaken our nation and the whole world to You, O God. Bring Your Kingdom near to every heart. Don’t let the lost and oppressed die at the hand of sin and lies, but give them Christ.
