Starvation in Afghanistan

The UN has estimated a nearly 23 million Afghans are facing extreme levels of hunger and as many as one million children could die this winter from starvation. Let’s pray.

Lord, we ask You, please, to have mercy on the people of Afghanistan. Be a Shield around every Christian. Hide them from those who seek to do them harm and provide for all their needs so abundantly they will have more than enough to share with the lost around them. Empower believers to share Your Good News in such a way that it will spread like wildfire throughout the whole country and beyond. Provide firewood and other fuel, blankets and warm clothing and shoes, nourishment and water for those in need. Deeper than their hunger for food, O God, give the people of Afghanistan a hunger for You. Nearly 40 million are unreached with the Gospel, and most of their 70 people groups still have no access to a Bible in their language. But You, O God, see them and love them. Hear their cries for help and our prayers for their deliverance, and answer quickly, O God of Love. Rescue them from tyranny, persecution, trafficking, starvation, freezing and death, and awaken them to You. You have placed within them a deep desire for abundant life only available through Christ (John 10:10), so now, please open the way for them to hear Your Good News and be saved. Meet them in their dreams. Speak to them throughout the day. Bring Christians into their path to love them into Your arms. When they cry out to You, answer them. Provide for their needs in such a way that they know the God of Love did that. Deliver them from evil, O God, and save them.
