Pray for North Korea

Two hypersonic-missile tests claimed to have been “successful” this week serve as a loud reminder to launch our own weapons of prayer (Ephesians 6:10-20) for this Communist country ranked most dangerous in the world for Christians.

“Being discovered as a Christian is a death sentence in North Korea. If you aren’t killed instantly, you will be taken to a labor camp as a political criminal. These inhumane prisons have horrific conditions, and few believers make it out alive. Everyone in your family will share the same punishment. Kim Jong-un is reported to have expanded the system of prison camps, in which an estimated 50-70,000 Christians are currently imprisoned. Most Christians are unable to meet with other believers, and have to keep their faith entirely hidden. There are even stories of husbands and wives not knowing, for many years, that their spouse was also a Christian. Secret police carry out raids to identify Christians, and children are encouraged to tell their teachers about any sign of faith in their parents’ home.” — Open Doors

“I ask those who have been praying for North Korea from all around the world to pray for North Korea to be able to come to the Gospel. The North Korean citizens are like slaves. With the light of the Lord, they would be freed.”

Lord, please wrap Your arms around every persecuted Christian, especially those who suffer in prisons and labor camps. Shield, strengthen and rescue them. Let them feel Your presence so near that faith, hope and love radiate from them, drawing others to You. Speak so powerfully, performing signs and miracles and wonders by Your mighty hand, that the fame of Your name races across the nation like wildfire, bringing with it the Good News of salvation and igniting every heart with desire for the One who sets them free. God of Miracles, we ask You to perform them in the hearts of North Korea’s leader and all those bound to obey him. Haunt them in their dreams, bind up the demons that control them, break through the darkness of their hearts and minds with Your light, and ignite within them with such a fear of You and hunger for Your love that they will repent, choose salvation and let You set them free. Release the captives, O God. Bring a swift end to the reign of terror. Lift the clouds of darkness and awaken every heart in North Korea to You. Isaiah 51:7-16.
