Have you ever reached out to someone, wanting a deeper connection, but they didn’t take you up on that invitation? As you shared your heart, did they looked at their watch? Check their social media notifications? Talk over you? Walk out of the room?
It’s not uncommon. But what the Lord was asking me to share today is how we do that to Him. He is here with us right now, inviting us into deep connection, but we push Him aside.
What has He been trying to tell you, but you haven’t stopped yet to listen? What is He calling you to do that you keep putting off? How many powerful, life-changing moments have you missed in His presence because your mind was busy with whatever temporary situation seemed more important? How many things has He wanted to do together with you that could turn that situation totally around, but you were too busy doing it your own way to experience that miracle?
Love Himself is calling us into true oneness, but we trade His Heavenly touch for a temporary, mundane situation that will not satisfy or build anyone up.
What has been keeping you from deeper intimacy with Christ? Ask Him.
Father, You know my thoughts. Show me what keeps me from deeper depths with You. How have I been brushing You aside? What distracts me when You are speaking or makes me not want to listen? What am I afraid You’ll ask me to do? Please help me see the barriers and hate them enough to let you blast them down, so I can at last walk in the oneness with You I was created for.
