Lord, give us wisdom, please. As we face difficult decisions, help us not lean on our own understanding, but to seek You in all our ways, letting You direct our paths. Proverbs 3:5-6. We can’t see the future, but You can. You know what’s up ahead and where You’re taking us. Help us surrender all our thoughts and opinions over to You and trust You with our lives. Show us the choices You are leading us to make right now in the midst of so many mandates and opinions. There were times in the Bible when You called Your people to obey those in authority, even leaders who did not obey You. 1 Peter 2:12-14. And other times, like Daniel, when obeying them would be disobeying You. Daniel 6. Give us wisdom to know what You are calling each of us to do in our own unique circumstances. Some You will call to submit. Others to walk away. Yet others to rise up. Don’t let us make a decision out of fear, anger, need, pressure, apathy, or any other state of mind except surrender to You. Help us lay every thought before You and ask You what You say about that. Give us courage to lay down our own opinions or those of others and ask for Yours. Help us surrender our bodies, our jobs, our families, our everything into Your hands and let You carry us through this Your way. For this crisis will pass and then there will be another and yet another. Let us begin and end every journey on our knees. For only in the center of Your will are we truly safe.
