A Prayer from Romans 12

Lord, awaken my heart with fervor to worship You. Teach me to offer up my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You. Don’t let me conform to the pattern of this world, but transform me by renewing my mind and giving me Yours, so I will walk in Your perfect will. Make my love sincere. May I hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Empower me to love and honor others above myself; to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer; to share with Your people who are in need and practice hospitality. Don’t let me lack in my zeal for You, but fuel my spiritual fervor, igniting me to serve You daily with joy. Give me grace to bless those who persecute me, rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn, and live in harmony with those around me. Don’t let me be proud or conceited, but use me to minister to everyone You bring in my path. Let me see them through Your eyes. I want to be a peace-maker, not repaying evil for evil as the world does, but doing what is right and overcoming evil with good. In fact, show me how to love my enemies so well, they will turn from sin and surrender their lives to You.
