“Your love is great. But it must be greater.”
In a dream God gave me, several of us who have been serving the Lord overseas by faith were sitting around a table talking together about the Lord. We each had our financial folders open, and were sharing how God had provided for our needs along the journey, often in unexpected and miraculous ways.
The woman sitting next to me had served the Lord in the same country we did for many years, and now is battling a life-threatening disease. She saw our open folders stacked with papers listing the ways God had provided. Then she looked longingly at a few $20 bills rolled together in my open folder. It was less than $100, but she exclaimed, “So much money!”
Her own folder was almost empty. How had I not noticed or even asked her or the Lord before if she was in need? We’d been friends and co-workers for almost 20 years, praying each other through so many hardships. And yet, I had gotten so caught up in my own needs and story, I had missed hers. I know from experience that a little bit can go a long, long way when the Lord is the One moving it along. So I handed her those few $20s.
And then I woke up.
Lord, how have I become so concerned with my own needs that I’ve missed others’? Today, please show me someone I can help, even if just in a small way. And give me faith to love others in all the greater ways.
