Mighty Warrior.
When the Lord called Gideon that, it felt like a lie. He’d just been caught in the act of hiding his hard-earned wages so the new guys in charge wouldn’t seize everything his family needed to survive. Judges 6:1-12.
Aren’t we God’s people? Isn’t this the nation He founded for Himself? How could He let those who are so against what He stands for just take over like that?
That was basically Gideon’s reply in Judges 6:13. So overcome by doubts and fears, the “mighty warrior” actually demanded proof that what the Lord said was for real. Judges 6:36-40.
To obey, he faced not only the vast armies of those in power, but also attacks from his own people. In fact, God’s people leaving Him aside to run after their own ideals was the very reason He allowed the current domination and oppression. (Judges 6:1) It was for the purpose of drawing the nation back to Himself.
Only a few joined in this seemingly hopeless fight — about the number of those who have joined this Prayer Wall — but together, they fought for God’s purposes God’s way and in God’s empowering. Judges 7. And won.
Rise up, mighty warrior. Let’s pray.
Don’t let looks deceive you. The battle isn’t over. And it isn’t for what earthly causes we think it might be. This battle is for oneness with the One who created us, the One this life is for. If we use the same weapons of words and other tactics the world uses, we will lose.
We must fight this battle God’s way, or we could find ourselves attacking the very people He’s raised up to help us tear down our idols and live for what matters most.
To push back the enemy’s purposes, as we pray forth God’s in our nation and in the world, sign up for the Prayer Wall at our Home page, and forward this post to those God could be leading to join in the fight.
Love you all!
Mikaela
