God hates pride, and must bring it down, because pride sets myself up as an idol before God, as I bow to my own opinions and desires and push others to bow to them too.
But humility draws God near, and brings His favor.
James 4:6, Proverbs 8:13, Isaiah 25:11, Jeremiah 49:16.
Lord, forgive me for my pride, for bowing to my own opinions and desires instead of seeking Yours. Please give me a pure and humble heart, surrendered to You, dependent upon You for every thought and decision, agreeing with You rather than leaning on my own wisdom, drawing You near even as I draw near to You. And use me for Your glory. In Your name. Amen.
