Turn to Me (Prayer for Afghanistan and the World)

This was originally posted September 12, 2021. But the Lord asked me to come back to it here at the Prayer Wall today. Let’s pray together as one for His purposes in the midst of such great evil and darkness, not just in Afghanistan, but all across the world.

Matthew 11:20-30

As Afghanistan sets up their terrorist state, I struggled with words to write yet another prayer this morning. But then, the Lord broke through, and this is what I felt Him saying:

The beauty has been torn from the land. War has stripped it of the joy of each new sunrise. Where once the people prayed, hoping to find Me amidst their cries for truth, now there is only fear and darkness. But I am there. Amidst the chaos. Amidst the grief. Amidst the toil and panic. Others may have left, but I have not. I am a Shield for My people who are left behind. I am their solace in times of great pain. I am still their Joy, their Peace, their Hope. All is not lost wherever I am, and I am with those who love Me. Ask Me now for faith to rise up from the ashes. For those following Satan’s plans to come face to face with the Living God, with My glory. Ask for those frozen in sin, locked in dark strongholds, to find the flame of hope they’ve been looking for in the eyes of the Christians they persecute. Ask for sparks to leap from that flame, and wedge within their walls, to melt the ice, the hardened layer that has coated over their hearts with fear, obligation, hopelessness, fight, destruction, and inflicting of pain. For there, within every heart is the deep, empty hole that can only be filled by My love. Ask for that longing to grow, to melt the ice from within, even as touches of My grace in the people who love Me melt it from without. That the layer would thin, become brittle, break, and expose a raw, bleeding, wounded heart that longs for a loving Father, that longs to be noticed by Love Himself and healed. For it’s there. Within every person. No matter how many demons grasp for power over their thoughts and actions, ultimately that hole, that longing, is what will lead them to Me. So ask for it to rise up and scream at them like a mighty monster, showing them what they have become, reminding them of any tiny kindness given them somewhere in their life, that there is a God and I am Good, that there’s so much more to this broken life than what they are living for, that healing is possible, even within their grasp, that the freedom to be evil they have now gained is not freedom at all, but the most terrible of bondage. Only I can set a soul free. Ask Me to move their hearts to cry out for Me and be saved. For the evil here and in hearts all over this world has surpassed Sodom and Gomorrah by far. This world is in need of fire from Heaven, of the floodwaters of My love, of death to what the enemy has sown, and awakening to the One who is Life. Ask them to turn to Me. Now, before it is too late. Intercede for this broken world, that those who long for My coming will see it soon, and those who are bringing it fast through their evil deeds will have a change of heart and turn to Me before it is too late. For if not, there will be no mercy on that Judgment Day.
