As we passed the one year mark since beginning this Prayer Wall, the Lord has taken me back to those prayers and dreams from 2020. These themes have emerged since:
- The call to prayer has gone out to thousands.
- The army that has answered is less than Gideon’s. (Judges 6-7)
- Evil and calamity have increased.
- God has not stopped calling us to repentance and prayer.
- His promise still stands: 2 Chronicles 7:14.
This was His answer today, when I lifted those themes back up to Him:
Those who will truly pray for the things of My heart are few, beloved. I have called My people into their quiet times with Me, but the cares of this world have kept them away. They are anxious, afraid for the future of their children, their finances, their country, their safety, but too anxious to lay it all in My hands and trust My purposes. I long to bless them with the things they desire, but like My people in the Old Testament, terrible trials have become the only way they take notice that they need Me. Then, at last, they seek Me and find that I am here.
My theme has always been repent. Come back to Me. For I am the One you are longing for. Finances and safety and things going your way will not fill the void in your heart. Only I can do that. The changes you want to see in the government, in your country, in your spouse, in your workplace, in your children …, all of it begins with you. Will you repent of the things you’ve been running after that aren’t me? Of the sin that binds you so tightly you will not allow Me to set you free? Of the busy activity with earthly concerns that demand your thoughts and dedication so prominently you “do not have time” to pray or seek Me for that freedom you long for? You have time for what you make time for. So, what do you have time for? How much more time I would give you for the things that matter if you would but surrender your time into My hands, and let Me guide your thoughts, your reactions, your relationships, your day. You make decisions based on what others expect of you, or what you want or think is best. There isn’t time for that. The time is now to give your all to Me.
Hand me your hopes, your dreams, your life, and I will give them back to you touched by My glory, untainted, blessed, overflowing with My promises.
I am still who I am. I have not abandoned you. I am still only a prayer away.
