Pray for protection, courage, and empowering from the Lord for those who stand for what is right and good, but who are persecuted relentlessly by those who disagree, who have been blinded by the enemy and push his purposes, rather than God’s.
Lord, please make us strong and courageous. Teach us what it means to fear You, O God, not man. Long have we sought to please those around us, caving in to their manipulations and control. Or fighting against them with just as vicious thoughts and words as they have directed against us. But now, O Lord, teach us to love. To forgive. To yield only to Your control. Heal us from the pain we’ve allowed to fester. Let us no longer be ruled by our fears or selfish agendas. Give us strength to rise up and fight for the things that matter. Place over our minds the helmet of salvation, and over our hearts the breastplate of righteousness. Show us the fleshly fights we’ve been engaging in, using weapons of words or vengeance. O Father, we’ve been fighting on the wrong side. We’ve been looking at those who attack us as our enemy, when our true enemy is Satan and his forces. We’ve let him use us to attack and hurt others, or to make us cower in fear and shame through their attacks. We’ve forgotten what the true battle is. Remind us, O God. Tear down every lie, and teach us to pray. For only through prayer is the true battle won. And only through love do we triumph over Satan. Teach us to love, Lord. To truly love. For love is what took You to the cross. Love is what won the battle for our souls. Let us now love others as You have loved us, so the whole world will see who You truly are, and long for what only You can give. For only when they find You will the war within their hearts be won.
