With more than 1 million without power and more than 600,000 without water in the intense Louisiana heat, many Christian families who have generators or other means of electricity have invited those who are stranded into their homes and are now loving them into Jesus’ arms.
“He is sending to us the 25-30-year-old unbelievers,” one Christian woman shared yesterday. Her southern Louisiana home was not as severely damaged by Ida as others, and her family is now sheltering several scared women and their children. One of those women, who has had repeated nightmares, asked the Christian to pray for her.
The Prayer Wall has heard from several other Christian families who are housing the destitute and sharing Christ with them, as well.
Now that Ida and her tornadoes have ripped apart much of Philadelphia, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York, and many face yet more flooding and power outages today in the Northeast, let’s pray God will send His servants to help those in need and share His love with the lost.
Father, we ask You to open the hearts of those who have been closed to the Gospel before. In the midst of great tragedy, bring forth eternal life. As soon as an unbeliever cries out to You, O God, come and meet them in powerful ways. Bring Christians quickly to their aid who can share the Good News with them and love them into Your arms. Open up Christians’ homes to house those in need, and fill those places with Your angels and felt presence. Restore power quickly to churches and Christians who can then help provide ice, food, water and other help to those in need. Rescue those who are stranded. Heal those who are hurting. Wrap Your arms around those who are grieving and give them peace. Provide for the poor who have lost everything. And do all these things in such a way that everyone knows it was You who did it. Sweep the nation from New Orleans to Maine with the floodwaters of Your love and grace, and bring about a Great Awakening in the hearts of millions. Awaken the lost to Truth, to Love, to salvation, abundant life and peace with God. And awaken Christians to deeper depths with You. May we live out the amazing purposes You created us for, bringing others with us to join us in Your loving arms.
